Careers in Sales and Marketing can be very exciting! Though they are often mentioned together as “sales and marketing” each is a different field. Sales people actually “sell” products or services and Marketing people determine the best way to make the product appealing to potential customers. Sales jobs take exceptional “people” skills. Marketing jobs can be very creative (coming up with advertisements, for instance) or very analytical (poring over data to determine the best price and target marketing strategy).
Many jobs in sales and marketing are particularly appealing to business majors who don’t enjoy working in finance, accounting, or economics and there are good opportunities in sales and marketing for people who don’t attend AACSB accredited schools.
